Apple has released MacOS 12 Monterey for a few weeks now, do you know all the interesting features that have just been updated? Apple has been trying to make its operating system the most user-friendly and optimal for users.

Recently, there have been a number of changes that are considered useful to you such as Safari, Maps, FaceTime, Notes, Photos, Messages... Please come to the article to understand the details and see if anything helps. Please.

Erase All Content & Settings on MacOS Monterey

With ‌macOS Monterey‌, restoring a Mac to factory settings works just like it does on iPhones and iPads running iOS. With the Erase all Content & Settings button, you can now erase your Mac like an iPhone without having to reinstall the operating system.

The feature of deleting all but keeping the operating system intact so that the device can be used when exchanging or buying and selling the device and it is more convenient like the way you buy an old iPhone iPad. Note that you need a Mac with a T2 chip for Erase All Content and Settings to be available, as it's not compatible with older machines.

AirPlay to Mac is the way to connect more with the Apple ecosystem

With enhanced AirPlay support on Mac, content from ‌iPhone‌ or ‌iPad‌ can be AirPlayed to the Mac's screen, something that was not possible before. ‌

AirPlay‌ to Mac also works with Mac-to-Mac transfer so you can display the screen of one Mac on another. AirPlay‌ to Mac allows users to extend or mirror the screen of an Apple device to a Mac. And because two Macs are supported, a Mac can use another Mac as an external display in a way that replicates the Target Display Mode feature.

‌AirPlay‌ to Mac works both wirelessly or wired with a USB-C cable. A wired connection would be helpful to minimize any possible lag. You can also use ‌AirPlay‌ to turn your Mac into a speaker that is paired with other ‌AirPlay‌ 2 speakers for multi-room audio. And you can work out with ‌AirPlay‌ Apple Fitness+ for Mac.

‌AirPlay‌ to Mac works with MacBook Pro or MacBook Air 2018 or later. iMac 2019 or later or Mac Pro , ‌iMac‌ Pro and Mac mini 2020 or later

Update FaceTime for Mac with MacOS Monterey

Many of the ‌FaceTime‌ features that were present in iOS 15 are also included in the ‌macOS Monterey‌ version of ‌FaceTime‌.

There's a Create Links feature for ‌FaceTime‌ calls that makes it much easier for people to join your call because it's similar to how Zoom and other video apps work.

At the same time this feature is quite great for scheduling calls. PC and Android users can now join ‌FaceTime‌ calls from the web using ‌FaceTime‌ links created by Apple users.

Apple has also added a Portrait mode effect to ‌FaceTime‌ calls on Mac so you can blur the background while chatting. The new Grid view can show everyone on the call at once and has new sound modes. Voice Isolation reduces background noise and focuses on your voice. While Wide Spectrum can be used to highlight all sounds if there are multiple people at the end of your call.

‌FaceTime‌ on ‌macOS Monterey‌ will get all the SharePlay features available on iOS devices in iOS 15.1. But SharePlay wasn't ready for release when ‌macOS Monterey‌ came out, and it came out at a later date.

Quick notes are available all the time and are quicker to use

The Notes app in ‌macOS Monterey‌ has been enhanced with a new Quick Notes feature designed to jot down notes no matter what you're doing.

If you place the pointer in the bottom right corner of the screen, a small note icon will pop up. Clicking on it opens Quick notes, where you can write down your thoughts, add links, save photos, and more. Quick Notes are saved in a dedicated section in the Notes app and can be accessed on all devices.

Tap Groups helps to gather the Tabs you need together

Apple originally planned to tweak Safari's design in ‌macOS Monterey‌ by adding a redesigned tab bar to better blend in with the web page's background. But after complaints, that plan was scrapped and Safari largely looked like it was in Big Sur.

If you want, you can enable the new “Compact” design in Safari's Preferences. But there is one more notable Safari change – Tap Groups.

With Tap Groups, you can save groups of tabs together and then access them again later.

For example, if you're planning a vacation, you might have several tabs that you'd like to keep open and revisit later without having them take up your entire Safari tab bar. The Groups tab allows you to save everything and open it back up later.

"Cute" Memoji Avatar Appears on MacOS Monterey

Memoji can now be set as your macOS avatar. Displays on the Lock Screen instead of the standard still image. In System Preferences, click on your profile and you can create or choose a Memoji to be your avatar. You can choose a pose and a favorite style, add a background color, then click save to set. The Memoji will animate on your Mac's Lock Screen when you sign in to your Mac. If you do something like enter the wrong password, you will see the Memoji react.

Emojis and original monograms were also options for the Mac avatar in Monterey. There is also a new “Recommended” tab that contains various profile picture options.

The Focus feature allows you to customize the way you want

Focus is a more tailored version of Do Not Disturb, with the aim of allowing you to focus on what you're doing in the moment while blocking out unnecessary distractions.

For example, you can create a “Work” focus mode that minimizes notifications from non-work-related apps to help you focus better without interruption.

Apple has built-in modes for things like Sleep and Drive. Also you can create custom modes based on your habits.

With Focus, you can choose which apps and people are allowed to contact you at different times. If you're in Focus mode and someone tries to send you a message, they'll be told that your notifications are muted. While it's still possible to get through in an emergency, and if you enable Focus on one device, it's automatically synced to all of your devices.

MacOS Monterey Shortcuts Synchronize Personal Usability

The Shortcut app was first introduced on ‌iPhone‌, and ‌iPad‌ is now available on Macs. So you can access all your favorite Shortcuts. Apple has designed Mac-specific keyboard shortcuts that are available in the Library, and you can create your own according to your preferences and habits.

Keyboard shortcuts have been updated with Next Action Suggestions to make it easier to create new shortcuts. Your Automator app workflows can be converted to keyboard shortcuts. For Pro users, there is AppleScript integration and compatibility with shell scripts.

Shortcuts are deeply integrated into ‌macOS Monterey‌ and can be run from the Dock, menu bar, Finder, Spotlight, or using Siri. They're universal, so shortcuts created on your ‌iPhone‌ can be used on your Mac, and vice versa.

Universal Control allows controlling all devices at the same time

One of the key features of ‌macOS Monterey‌ is the multi-controller that will allow one mouse and keyboard to work on multiple Macs or iPads. So if you set up your desktop with an ‌iMac‌, a MacBook, and an ‌iPad‌, you can use one mouse and one keyboard to control all three.

Universal Control isn't available yet as it's not ready in time for ‌macOS Monterey‌, but it will be in a future ‌macOS Monterey‌ update.
